Poople is a daily word ladder. A word ladder is a puzzle where you turn one word into another by changing a single letter at each step and keeping a real word every time. The idea goes back to Lewis Carroll, who called it Doublets in 1877. In Poople the target word is always POOP, which gives the game its name and theme. If you enjoy Wordle or Weaver, Poople is a quick daily word game you can finish in about a minute.

## How to play

1. Each day starts with a 4-letter word that is the same for every player.
2. Change one letter to make a new 4-letter word. It must be a real word and differ from the previous word by exactly one letter.
3. Keep going one letter at a time until you reach POOP.
4. Use as few steps as possible. The shortest possible path is called par, and any extra steps above par count against your score.

## Daily puzzle and scoring

A new puzzle goes live every day at 08:00 UTC, and everyone in the world solves the same starting word that day. Your score is the number of steps you take relative to par. Reaching POOP in par is the best result. The game tracks your wins, current streak, best streak, and average extra steps, all saved locally in your own browser.

## Sharing

When you finish, you can copy a small grid that shows your path without revealing the words you used, so you can share your result without spoiling the puzzle for others.
